Donegal Minister of State, Charlie McConalogue, visited Carndonagh Post Office to officially launch An Post’s nationwide Christmas in the Post Offices campaign alongside local Postmaster, John McGuinness.
The initiative highlights the central place of post offices for local communities, business and commerce, especially at Christmas time with post, ecommerce, financial services and last-minute gift ideas like One4All and State Savings products.
Commenting on the festive campaign, the Minister of State for Sport and Postal Policy said: “Our post offices are the beating heart and anchors of our communities and act as vital social links in both urban and rural areas. They provide invaluable support for vulnerable members of society through face-to-face interaction and the provision of essential services.”
“While the world goes digital, the local post office remains a cornerstone for connection and community interaction, especially at Christmas. It’s a place for posting cherished gifts, managing finances, and accessing vital government services right on our doorsteps,” he added.
“It goes without saying that Christmas is the busiest time of the year for our local post offices, with a significant increase in card and package posting. I encourage people across Donegal to visit their local branch early to manage their seasonal requirements and connect with their community this Christmas,” Minister McConalogue said.
“I’d like to commend all the An Post staff who go above and beyond over the Christmas period to ensure the timely delivery of parcels and cards,” he added.
