SUNDAY will mark the 25th anniversary of the day Dr Jim McDaid was nominated to be Minister for Defence. And then all hell broke lose. We recall one of the most infamous days experienced by a Donegal politician in Friday’s edition of the Donegal News.
“IT was like going through an operation without the anaesthetic”.
The words used by Dr McDaid to describe his appointment as Minister of Defence only to withdraw from the post later the same day still strikes a chord today, twenty-five years on.
