THE Gallowglass Community Centre in Milford has been awarded €300,000 in funding through the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
The funding will support significant works at the centre, helping to enhance facilities and ensure the Gallowglass Community Centre continues to serve as a vital hub for community, social and cultural activities in Milford and the wider area.
This announcement comes three years after the Reformed Presbyterian Church gifted the building to the community.
Welcoming the recent announcement, Cllr Declan Meehan said: “This is extremely welcome news for Milford and the surrounding communities.
“The Gallowglass Community Centre plays a central role in local life, providing a space for community groups, events and services.
“This investment of €300,000 will make a real difference in improving the centre and securing its future for generations to come.”
Cllr Meehan also praised the efforts of those involved in securing the funding.
“I want to thank the Regeneration Team in Donegal County Council for working with us in Milford and District Resource Centre on this successful application,” Cllr Meehan said.
The Town and Village Renewal Scheme aims to support the revitalisation of rural towns and villages by improving local infrastructure, enhancing community facilities and making town centres more vibrant places to live, work and visit.
“This funding demonstrates the importance of continued investment in our towns and villages,” Cllr Meehan added.
“I look forward to seeing the positive impact these works will have on the community and I will continue to advocate for further investment in Milford and throughout the area.”
