Milford United held a small going away event on Sunday for their former underage starlet Gavin Mc Ateer, who has been selected as part of the Ireland U17 squad for the upcoming World Cup in Doha.
McAteer has been in scintillating form for Finn Harps senior team since he made his Harps debut back in May 2024 and this form has earned him his spot on Colin O’Brien’s World Cup squad.
Milford are understandably very proud of his achievements and Gavin along with his parents Martin and Roisin were invited to a gathering at the clubhouse in Moyle View Park.
A host of underage players were in attendance to hear from McAteer, who has now become their local hero and role model.
McAteer will be joined on the plane to Qatar by his Finn Harps teammates Corey Sheridan and Josh Cullen, and it should be a brilliant experience for all three players and their families at the prestigious competition.
