A NEW film featuring Milford man Ricky Simms was released in Ireland this week.
Celebrating everything great this country has to offer, ‘Quintessentially Irish’ delves into Ricky’s life showcasing how he went from living on his family’s farm in Milford to becoming the world’s leading sports agent, representing the likes of Usain Bolt and Mo Farah.
Filmmaker Frank Mannion said it was a privilege to be in the proud Donegal man’s company and to hear about his remarkable career.
“He had an impressive middle distance running career in his own right, winning national medals and he credits Finn Valley Athletics as being an important part of his life.
“Ricky was the de facto King of the 2012 London Olympics, as he was the agent for its two superstars, Mo Farah and Usain Bolt.
“Ricky orchestrated the famous photo of Usain doing the Mobot and Mo doing Bolt’s Lightning Bolt manoeuvre.
“We spent time with Ricky and Usain at a Puma event in Las Vegas and Usain was fulsome in his praise for Ricky, crediting him for his wisdom, guidance, business nous and loyalty since they met when Usain was an upcoming 15-year-old sprinter.
“Ricky’s next quintessentially Irish move will surely be to finally get Usain to Donegal and have Usain drink a real pint of Guinness,” he said.
Quintessentially Irish is now in cinemas across Ireland and the UK.
