Milford footpath needs highlighted again

ALL possible efforts should be made to get funding for footpaths and pedestrian crossings in Milford – that’s the call from Cllr. Liam Blaney.

Raising the issue at the March meeting of Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District Council, he pointed out that both improved and new footpaths are needed.

He highlighted the road from the Lidl retail park up to the Mulroy Woods Hotel where people must walk along the side of what is a very busy road, despite the fact that an application for funding had been made in 2002.

He also noted that while there had been some funding for the Kilmacrennan Road in the town, works were still not completed.

In an official response, he was told that an assessment established that a second pedestrian crossing in the town is required at the health centre.

Furthermore, attempts are being made through the National Transport Authority and other sources to obtain the necessary fundings.

Meanwhile, Cllr. Declan Meehan has been informed that there will be a review of road markings at the Lidl junction and the turnoff to Kerrykeel at Forquar, but only after works are completed on the Milford to Ramelton Road where a sewage project remains to be completed.
