Mícheál Mac Giolla Easbuic

Mícheál Mac Giolla Easbuic, Rolagh, Cill Chartha. Méala mór a bhás dá bhean céile Bernadette, dá mhac Gregory agus dá chuid gaolta agus comharsana uilig.

Fear mór spóirt, cultúir, agus pobail, chuir Mícheál go mór le saol an chontae seo. B’fhéidir gurb é an t-iomrá is mó atá air ná an ról lárnach a bhí aige i gcúrsaí Cumann Lúthchleas Gael i nDún na nGall, mar chathaoirleach ar Bhord an Chontae ó 1980–1987, mar iontaobhaí ar Pháirc an Chrócaigh, mar imreoir agus mar riarthóir le club Chill Chartha.

Chomh maith le sin, bhí Mícheál ina mhúinteoir scoile, ina scríbhneoir, ina eagarthóir, ina aistritheoir, agus tuilleadh nach iad. Chnuasaigh sé mórán seanchais as Cill Chartha, Teileann agus ceantracha eile agus chuir sé an oidhreacht sin ar fáil don phobal i leabharthaí mar Gleann an Bhaile Dhuibh agus Ón tSeanam Anall. Le blianta beaga anuas d’aistrigh sé saothar Phádraig Mac a’ Ghoill go Gaeilge. Bhí sé ina Uachtarán ar Oireachtas na Gaeilge nuair a bhí an fhéile i Leitir Ceanainn sa bhliain 2012 agus bhí baint mhór aige le Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta, Áislann Chill Chartha, agus go leor eile.

Mar gheall ar na treoirlínte atá i bhfeidhm tá an teach agus an t-aifreann príobháideach ach is féidir teachtaireacht comhbhróin a fhágáil thíos.

Mícheál passed away peacefully on Friday last, December 11th. Much loved husband of Bernadette, he will be sadly missed by his son Gregory and all his relatives and many friends.

Mícheál was never idle and contributed greatly to his community and county. He was a Chairman of the Donegal GAA County Board 1980–1987 and served as a Trustee of the Gaelic Athletics Association. Mícheál was also a school teacher, writer and in recent years has translated and edited many books, passing the richness of the Irish language to the next generation.

Bernadette and Gregory would like to thank you all for your kind support and your understanding at this difficult time. If you wish to leave a message of sympathy, please do so in the condolence section below.

Suaimhneas síoraí dó.
