Tomorrow (Saturday) at 12 noon in towns and villages across the county, mica campaigners will be handing out letters to be sent to banks by those whose homes are affected by mica and are still paying their mortgage despite their homes needing to be repaired or demolished.

With the help of an ex-bank manager, the mica redress group has prepared an urgent letter to be sent to banks across the country seeking financial contributions to the mica redress scheme.

The letter is to be signed by the home owner and sent to their bank.

Campaigners will be handing out the letters in towns throughout the county including Ramelton, Clonmany, Carndonagh, Buncrana, Lifford and Letterkenny.

Speaking about the importance of putting the banks under pressure, lead campaigner Paddy Diver said, “The letter is done and will be handed out in most towns on Saturday at 12 noon. “They are even being handed out in Sligo, Clare and Mayo.

“Come out and get your letter. They are in an envelope already so all the home owner has to do is sign their name and address and send it to the mortgage provider.

“If you have other questions, add them on to the letter.

“These letters are very important and were not easily written. We have professional people involved including ex-bank managers who helped write these up.

“Nobody has put pressure on the banks yet so come out and get your letter on Saturday in your nearest town,” said Paddy.

Ramelton based Campaigner Monica Grier will be in Ramelton on Saturday and she urged all mica affected home owners to get their letter. She “If you have mica and you also have a mortgage, Paddy Diver has had a very important letter drawn up for you to sign and send to your bank if you so wish.

“We will be standing at Gamble’s Square in Ramelton on Saturday at 12 o clock.

“Collect your letters and stand with us for a wee half hour.

“This is very important,” said Monica.
