Mica Action Group sent ‘urgent letter’ to Donegal Minister Charlie McConalogue

THE Mica Action Group has sent an ‘urgent letter’ to Donegal Minister Charlie McConalogue to mark the one year anniversary of the refusal of pre-legislative scrutiny.

It is the one year anniversary of when homeowners were refused full pre-legislative scrutiny of the Defective Concrete Blocks Act on the grounds of urgency – to speed up the implementation of the scheme, which is still not in action.

The letter appeals to Minister Charlie McConalogue to listen to the thousands of affected homeowners from his county and help them achieve a scheme that grants 100 per cent redress, while it also points out the need for the pre-legislative process to have been carried out last year.

Chairperson of MAG, Lisa Hone said, “A year on it feels like a cruel irony that campaigners are having to write letters like the one attached and reveals the true extent of the Govt’s absence of care and urgency.”
