MET Eireann has issued an updated weather warning with increased winds speeds predicted overnight. The orange wind warning will remain in place until 9am tomorrow morning.

A Met Eireann spokesperson said: “Westerly winds associated with Storm Gareth will give mean speeds of 80km/hr with severe and damaging gusts of 110 to 130km/hr. There is also the risk of coastal flooding due to high seas.”

Donegal County Council is urging home-owners and businesses to secure properties and belongings and to take extra care.
