By Dionne Meehan

THE Boyle Agri Tractor Run in memory of Ethna and Seamus Boyle is set to take place on Sunday, January 21.

Registration for the Tractor Run will take place at 10am from the Boyle farm shed at Errity, Manorcunningham (F92V603) before the run begins at 2pm.

The registration price for the run is €20 including refreshments of hot teas, coffees, soups and sandwiches.

The beneficiaries for the run are The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

These beneficiaries are very close to the Boyle family having lost their mother Ethna to Alzheimer’s in 2021 and their father Seamus to Motor Neurons Disease in 2022.

Before Seamus passed, he was adamant to raise monies for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and did just that by organising a tractor run.

As 300 tractors descended on Manorcunningham, Seamus and Ethna’s son, Manus Boyle, branded the run a “roaring success”. So much so, they managed to raise a whopping €28,000 for charity.

“Daddy was totally overwhelmed and for me, that made it all worthwhile.

“We decided to go ahead and organise it this year again to see if we could raise funds that are badly needed.

“An uncle of mine passed away after my daddy, he had Motor Neurons and an aunt of mine also died in December, she had Motor Neurons also.

“It is very close to home,” he said.

However, it is not just tractors that can take part in the run, all vehicles are welcome on the day.
