A MEMORIAL fundraiser has been set up to mark the first anniversary of a young man from Manorcunningham.
The late P.J. McGinty was just 19-years-old when he passed away last April.
Remembered as a loveable, outgoing lad with a heart of gold, P.J.’s family have been planning some very special events to mark his first anniversary.
From memorial diffs to walking the Camino de Santiago, PJ’s family are going above and beyond to celebrate his life while raising money for worthy Donegal charities.
Speaking to the Donegal News this week, P.J.’s sister, Sarah Louise said her brother had a heart of gold.
“He always did his best to help other people in any way he could.
“So we are doing this now for the most selfless, kindest and outgoing lad, so that he can be remembered as the person he was and so that his energy and kindness will be passed on in the most positive way,” she concluded.
A well-known face from walking the back roads of Corkey, P.J.’s love for walking inspired his mother Veronica to walk the Camino de Santiago this September.
And hoping to raise funds along the way, the family have set up a GoFundMe page.
With all money raised from these events going to Manor Men’s Shed and various other local Donegal causes, donations can be made via https://gofund.me/b123189b
