THE reconvened monthly meeting of Donegal County Council has been adjourned to 3.30pm.
The meeting was set to resume at 3pm however a further adjournment until 3.30pm has been agreed.
The adjournment is to allow councillors to discuss the next course of action against Cllr Frank McBrearty.
Last Monday, Cllr McBrearty was handed a one-month suspension from all Council meetings.
However, despite the suspension, the Independent Raphoe Councillor has attended today’s meeting (Monday) and has refused to leave.
The meeting was halted within two minutes of it beginning and Cathaoirleach Jack Murray adjourned the meeting to allow councillors to discuss how to proceed.
Cllr Murray said “Cllr McBrearty continues to defy the resolution of this Council, we cannot proceed at this point.
“That falls on one person and with that, I will adjourn the meeting until 3pm to get Councillors to consider what we need to do next.
“There are several county solicitors here to advise,” said Cllr Murray.
