Finn Harps 1-0 Shelbourne
BARRY McNamee struck a brilliant late winner as Finn Harps defeated Shelbourne tonight to pick up their second win of the season.
Harps had the better of the first half but didn’t test Shels goalkeeper Brendan Clarke.
The sides were deadlocked at the break, and the required quality was lacking in the first twenty minutes after the resumption.
Harps then found the net when Yoyo Mahdy fired home after Rob Slevin poked goalwards, but the referee Derek Tomney opted to disallow the goal.
It looked like the home side might have to settle for a share of the spoils but they then got their elusive goal in the 89th minute.
Regan Donelon’s corner was headed clear to the edge of the box, and Luke Rudden left the ball for McNamee, who took a touch and then drilled a super shot into the bottom corner.
Ollie Horgan’s men had to endure five minutes of injury-time but they got the win they craved.
