SINN Féin councillor Gerry McMonagle is the new Mayor the Letterkenny Municipal District.

He was elected yesterday evening at its annual general meeting in Termon.
His selection was no surprise as a deal was put into place following the last local elections about who would be Mayor over the five year term of the council.
Cllr McMonagle said his priority is to bring the urban and rural areas together in the district.
