LOCAL election Labour candidate Siobhán McLaughlin is reminding childcare providers that this Friday, March 28, is the deadline for applications to participate in childcare support schemes from September 2014 to June 2015.
This includes both new and previous participants in the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Scheme and the Childcare Education and Training Support (CETS) Scheme.
“There are excellent childcare services in the county and they contribute to the development of children by making Children First guidelines a core of their work,” said McLaughlin, a well-known community activist who is running for election in the Letterkenny/Milford Electoral Area.
“At a time when childcare costs are so high, it is important that providers access these supports so that parents and children have the opportunity to avail of their services.”
All childcare providers seeking to re-enter support schemes must complete a ‘Re-application -All Programmes 2014’ form which can be downloaded on the Donegal County Childcare Committee (DCCC) website.
The website includes the separate forms which must be completed for each scheme that the provider wishes to re-enter.
Forms that new applicants need to complete are also available on the DCCC website, including a ‘New Apps – All Programmes’ form plus separate forms for each scheme that the provider seeks to offer.
“For many adults returning to full-time training courses, childcare can be accessed through the CETS Scheme,” McLaughlin said.
“I would encourage registered childcare providers to apply for CETS so that adult learners have a range of services to choose from which are accessible and affordable.”
