Jim McGuinness has been appointed as the new Donegal senior football manager at this evening’s Special County Committee meeting in Convoy.
It will be McGuinness’s second stint as senior manager. He famously led Donegal to the 2012 All-Ireland title as well as three Ulster titles.
Colm McFadden, Neil McGee and Luke Barrett will all be part of his backroom team.
A statement from Donegal GAA read: “Donegal GAA is delighted to announce the appointment of Jim McGuinness as Senior Football team manager, following a meeting of Donegal County Committee.
“This is an exciting time for all Donegal GAA Supporters and Donegal people at home and abroad.
“CLG Dhún na nGall wish Jim, his backroom team, and the players every success for the future.
“The term will be for 3 years with an option for the 4th year.”
The appointment of the Glenties native is a huge boost following a turbulent 2023 for the Donegal senior football team.
