Mark Anthony McGinley is an interesting character.
Goalkeepers usually are. You always wonder why someone ends up between the posts. Was it because they were last picked in the playground or was it because they just didn’t fancy all that running around outfield?
Most of the time it’s because they’re as mad as a box of frogs. But McGinley isn’t mad. And any stopper that has the ‘Cruyff Turn’ in his goalkeeping repertoire, certainly wasn’t left hanging around after the five-a-side selections were made in the school yard .
The Ards man decided to step away from the Donegal Gaelic football panel back in March. Ollie Horgan moved and an unfortunate long-term injury to previous regular Ciaran Gallagher presented a more or less instant opportunity for McGinley to stake his claim….
