McGill and London target Sligo ambush

THERE will be a strong Donegal tinge to the London senior football team that begins their Connacht Championship journey this Saturday.

London take on Division 4 champions Sligo and they will be aiming to pull off an ambush at the game in Ruislip, which throws in at 3pm.

Joe McGill (St Mary’s, Convoy), Nathan McElwaine (Termon), Fionn Gallagher (Naomh Columba), Daniel Clarke (Naomh Colmcille) and Conor McGonigle (Gaeil Fhánada) are all part of the London panel, and they are coached by 2012 All-Ireland winner Michael Boyle.

McGill helped Convoy to the Junior ‘A’ Championship title in 2020 and developed a reputation as a sharpshooter in the All-County League.

However, he wanted to broaden his horizons and is now playing his football across the Irish Sea.

“I was just looking to get away and try out a different lifestyle really,” said the 23-year-old.
