Fergus McGee will step down as Donegal GAA Chairman after completing one year at the helm.
The Donegal News understands that McGee told colleagues at an executive meeting on Monday night, that he will not be seeking re-election at the GAA Convention in December.
The St Eunan’s clubman defeated Paul McGonagle (Buncrana) in a hotly-contested vote last December.
However, he has endured a turbulent year with the Academy debacle and Paddy Carr’s resignation adding to the workload. Croke Park officials were brought in to help try and get matters under control.
Mr McGee was contacted by the Donegal News this afternoon but has yet to respond.
