New Donegal manager Declan Bonner has been impressed with McFadden’s attitude, and he will assume the captaincy for the game in MacCumhaill Park, which throws in at 8pm.

“Hugh McFadden will be our captain for the McKenna Cup,” said Bonner.

“I’ve been really impressed with his attitude in training and he’s a leader within the squad.

“He’s only 24 but he wants to take on responsibility and he does that for his club as well.

“He was captain down in Roscommon (in a challenge game) and that went well, and we will see how he gets on in the McKenna Cup.”
