It comes less than two months after the family owned store won the prestigious Drapers ‘Independent Department Store of the Year UK and Ireland’ award for the second time.

Also recognised during the event was Magee of Donegal – another finalist for the eCommerce Website of the Year Award.

The awards are the benchmark by which the best in Irish retail are judged and is the largest awards programme of its type, boasting over 600 total entries annually.

The awards programme is the largest event of the retail calendar and recognises the professionalism and flair of companies, stores, websites and individuals in the industry.

Back in June, McElhinney’s represented Irish retailers at the European e-Commerce Awards in Barcelona.

The latest award will be another boost for McElhinney’s as they prepare to start work on a four-storey extension to their landmark store.

John McElhinney was given the go-ahead for the proposed development which will include storage areas, a lift and offices.
It will also include overheard corridors, connecting the existing store.
