Paddy McConigley has been appointed as a selector for the Kilkenny senior football team.
At Monday evening’s County Board Meeting in UPMC Nowlan Park, Christy Walsh was ratified as Kilkenny Junior Football Manager for the 2026 season with McConigley, Andy O’Brien and Brian Sheeran as selectors.
Kerry man Walsh previously managed Kilkenny to an All-Ireland Junior Football Championship title over a decade ago and the Cats will have designs on repeating the feat this year. The lost out at the semi-final stage to London last year.
McConigley enjoyed a fine playing career with home club Gaeil Fhánada while he was also part of the Donegal senior panel for a number of seasons and helped the county to the Division 1 National League title in 2007.
He then moved down the country and went on to represent Kilkenny under Walsh’s guidance.
The pair will now work together and will be hoping for a strong campaign.
