The Government has won a motion of confidence, with Micheál Martin’s coalition securing 85 votes in the motion which was tabled in response to a no-confidence vote by Sinn Féin.
Minister McConalogue was one of many that voted for a motion of confidence.
Minister McConalogue slammed Sinn Fein during the Motion of Confidence in the Government Debate saying we have seen little to no evidence of any policy innovation, hitting out at Sinn Fein’s housing manifesto.
“Just two miles from where I live, we have a Housing Minister, Sinn Fein Minister and a Housing Finance Minister.
“Despite this, house prices in Northern Ireland last year rose by £18,000 on average, at a 12% increase.
“Again, it’s evidence of Sinn Fein’s bluster and lack of delivery,” he said.
McConalogue also praised the efforts of The Government in his speech.
“Meanwhile in government, we have delivered an excess of €5 billion for farmers and fishers in direct and indirect supports.
“We have created a new Common Argicultural Policy which will deliver €10 billion for the farm families of Ireland.
“We delivered a 50% increase in relation to pillar two funding for CAP supports, also delivering a ten and a half thousand euro Agri-Enviromental scheme, increasing supports to our suckler sector to €150 per cow as compared to €90 on the previous one.
“We have increased fivefold the support for our organic sector while also delivering support for our tillage and sheep sector.
“In the face of Brexit we have worked tirelessly to support our fishing sector and are investing like never before in that sector,” he said.
