Charlie McConalogue has been appointed as Ireland’s new Agriculture Minister.
The Donegal TD received a call from Taoiseach Micheál Martin this afternoon offering him the role.
Mr McConalogue takes over the role from Dara Calleary who resigned last month amid the so-called Golfgate incident. Mr Calleary took over the job following the sacking of Barry Cowen following controversy over a drink driving ban.
Charlie McConalogue, from Gleneely in Inishowen, has been a politician since 2009 and has served as Minister of State for Law Reform since July this year.
It is understood Wexford TD James Browne will replace as Minister of State for Justice.
