McBride wins Billy Coleman award

Donegal’s Kyle McBride has won the Billy Coleman Award for the Young Rally Driver of the Year.
McBride picked up his award at the Champions of Irish Motorsport Awards which are being held today in Dublin
McBride saw off Cian Caldwell (Meath) and Casey Jay Coleman (Tipperary) to win the award.
The 22-year-old received the first nomination for the 2025 Billy Coleman Award for the opening period of January to May.
McBride, from Clonmany, contested the Irish and UK Stallantis Rally Cup and the Junior British Rally Championship this season in a Peugeot 208 Rally4. In the January – May nomination window, he managed to secure class wins on the East Riding Stages, the West Cork Rally and the Jim Clark Rally. McBride is a member of the Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy and was a Billy Coleman Award finalist in 2022 and 2024.
The winner of the Motorsport Ireland Billy Coleman Young Rally Driver of the Year Award receives a support package to contest rallies nationally and internationally in 2026. The Sport Ireland and Motorsport Ireland funded award is valued at €50,000. The award winner will receive assistance and guidance from Billy Coleman coordinator Sean McHugh.
An additional support package, to a value of up to €50,000, will be available from the Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy as part of an agreed training and development programme designed to progress McBride’s career.
