Donegal 0-13 Kerry 1-9
Patrick McBrearty struck a 74th minute winner as Donegal beat the reigning All-Ireland champions Kerry in their league opener in Ballybofey today.
Paddy Carr’s team registered early scores through Caolan McColgan and Daire Ó Baoill but they then gave away a poor goal to Dara Moynihan.
Kerry were sharp and they moved six points ahead by the 25th minute.
However, Donegal finished the first half strongly with points from Conor O’Donnell, McColgan, and Johnny McGroddy.
HT: Donegal 0-6 Kerry 1-6
Donegal made a great start to the second half and hit four points on the trot to edge in front.
It was nip-and-tuck after that and it looked like Donal O’Sullivan had grabbed Kerry a draw.
However, new captain McBrearty had other ideas and his last-minute winner gave Carr and his team two precious league points.
