DONEGAL’S most controversial county councillor is in pole position to be the new Mayor, it emerged yesterday (Thursday).
Despite growing opposition from senior members of the local authority it is likely that Labour councillor Frank McBrearty from Raphoe will be elected to the post at the annual general meeting on June 25.
Speaking to the Donegal News yesterday (Thursday) Cllr McBrearty said he was happy the inter-party pact for electing the mayor and deputy mayor would be honoured.
