Meath 1-14 Donegal 1-15
An injury-time point from Patrick McBrearty gave Donegal victory against Meath in Navan this evening, and sent them into Round 4A of the qualifiers.
Meath started well and established a 3-1 lead after eight minutes with the breeze at their backs.
However, Donegal bounced back with Michael Murphy and Patrick McBrearty both in good scoring form.
The visitors led by two points coming up to half-time, and then Hugh McFadden had a goal disallowed for a square ball. A late Donal Lenihan free left the sides level at the break.
HT: Meath 0-7 Donegal 0-7
The second half was nip-and-tuck but Donegal looked to have taken control when Ryan McHugh palmed to the net in the 61st minute. However, Cillian O’Sullivan replied with a goal for Meath one minute later.
Murphy nudged Donegal back in front, before Lenihan equalised. The game looked to be heading for extra-time before Patrick McBrearty swung his trusted left boot from 45 metres and sent Donegal into the next round.
