McAteer features as Ireland defeat Panama in World Cup

Gavin McAteer was introduced in the second half as the Republic of Ireland made a winning start to the Under 17 World Cup today in Qatar.

Colin O’Brien’s Ireland were impressive and ran out 4-1 winners against Panama.

Jaden Umeh, Kian McMahon-Brown, Michael Noonan and Max Kovalevskis scored the goals for Ireland

Milford native McAteer came on in the 78th minute for Ireland.

His Finn Harps teammates Corey Cummins-Sheridan and Josh Cullen were unused subs on this occasion.

Ireland will be back in action on Saturday when they face Uzbekistan in Doha.
