A Mass will be offered in St Baithin’s Church, St Johnston, for the victims of last night’s fatal collision, in which two teenagers lost their lives and another was left seriously injured.
The Mass will be held at 7pm tonight for the teenagers, understood to be from Derry, as well as for their grieving and distraught families and friends.
“Our community woke up this morning to the terrible news that two young men have lost their lives overnight, and another was seriously injured on the road that runs through our village,” a statement from the Parish of Taughboyne read.
“In this time of great grief and sorrow for all involved, words fail us. So we turn to the Lord, asking for his strength and peace and the grace that will be needed for the families of those deceased and injured.”
Support
Meanwhile, Road Victim Support Northern Ireland and Donegal have offered emotional and practical support to those impacted by the tragedy.
The charity’s volunteers will be at Shantallow Community Centre in Derry from 2pm onwards today to offer support to families, friends and members of the wider community who may need someone to talk to.
“We extend our sincere thanks to the emergency services and medical teams who responded to both incidents with professionalism and care.
“If you or anyone affected needs support, please reach out. You are not alone,” the group said.
