THIS year’s Mary From Dungloe International Festival participants travelled all over the county this week. The Marys travelled all around Inishowen on Monday before they paid their annual visit to Glenveagh National Park on Tuesday morning.
By kind invitation, the Marys also visited the Beach Hotel Downings where they were welcomed by the manager, Darragh McClafferty. That evening the Marys went to Falcarragh where the reigning Mary, Burtonport’s Debbie Rodgers and this year’s participants attended the launch of the arts and cultural festival, Féile na Sean Bheairice.
The trips around the county are not only an opportunity for the ‘local’ participants to show the visiting Marys around Donegal, it is also a chance for them to promote the annual festival in its 45th year.
Having spent two days travelling around the county, today (Wednesday) the Marys got to spend a little more time at home in Dungloe visiting the laboratories of the festival’s sponsor, Randox, and visiting the local bars in the evening.
This year’s Mary from Dungloe International Festival participants will be introduced to the crowd on the Main Street stage tonight (Wednesday) at 9.30pm.
