SINN Féin President Mary Lou McDonald TD will visit Donegal today Friday, November 1.
While in Donegal, Ms McDonald will meet with families whose homes have been impacted by the defective block scandal and with the families of victims of the Creeslough tragedy. She will also meet with the Donegal Special Needs Parents network.
Speaking ahead of the visit, the Sinn Féin Leader said:
“It’s an important visit at an important time. The families affected by the deflective block scandal have been through hell. They see their homes crumbling down around them. It’s a real life nightmare. They deserve a solution and scheme that is fair.
“Sinn Féin’s commitment is clear and I will assure the families of this commitment today. If we are elected to government in the coming election, we will deliver a 100% redress scheme for all of the homeowners living in their primary principal residence and for landlords with one property, delivered by the State, from start to finish.”
Commenting ahead of her meeting with the Creeslough families, Ms McDonald said.
“None of us can imagine the pain, heartache and loss of these families. They deserve answers. They deserve the full facts and the full truth about what happened on that tragic day. The best way to achieve this goal is through an independent public inquiry and that is what the government must deliver.”
