Mark English advances to semi-finals at Paris Olympics

Mark English has advanced to the semi-finals of the 800m at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games as he crossed the line in second.

The Finn Valley athlete had a strong showing and placed himself in third from the 200m mark until the final 100m where he went to the outside and finished strong to cross the line in 1:45.15, just behind race winner and hometown favourite Gabriel Tual in 1:45.13.

With the top three advancing automatically to the semi-finals, the Letterkenny man comfortably made it through Heat 2 and will compete in the semi-finals on Friday morning.
