Man who died on Errigal to be remembered with sponsored walk

FAMILY and friends of the late Carl Henderson have organised a sponsored walk up Errigal in his memory on the six month anniversary of his sudden passing.

On Saturday, April 26, the husband and father of three was hiking on Errigal when he suffered a medical event and despite the best efforts of the emergency services sadly lost his life.

It took over 50 minutes for a land ambulance to reach him on the mountain path and the closest defibrillator was located approximately the same amount of time away.

The late Carl Henderson, a husband and father of three, will be remembered with a charity climb up Errigal.

On Saturday, October 26, a special sponsored walk has been organised by family and friends of the beloved Armagh man with a strong connection to Crolly.

They will raise funds to place a defibrillator around the mid-point of the mountain.

“By doing this, we hope that another family won’t have to go through the pain of losing a loved one,” an organiser said.

All money raised from this walk will go towards installing and maintaining an AED, with any additional funds donated to the Donegal Mountain Rescue for their efforts to help Carl on the day.

The walk will start at 11.30 at Errigal Car Park, on Saturday, October 26.
