Man who died in Carrigart collision named locally

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to witnesses of yesterday’s fatal single vehicle collision in Carrigart.

The man has been named locally as Danny Gallagher, from Dundoan in Downings.

Mr. Gallagher, who was in his late 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle collision which occurred on the R245 at Carrigart at around 1pm yesterday afternoon.

His body was removed to the mortuary at Letterkenny University Hospital where a post-mortem examination was to take place.

Funeral arrangements are still to be confirmed.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 12.10pm and 1.10pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí,” a Garda spokesperson said.
