Man struck by vehicle in Clonmany on Sunday dies

A man has died following an alleged hit-and-run in Clonmany in the early hours of Sunday.

According to gardaí, at about 00:15, a pedestrian in his 60s was struck by a vehicle which then left the scene.

He was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

He died from his injuries last evening and a post mortem examination is due.

A man in his 30s was later arrested and charged in relation to the incident. He appeared before Letterkenny District Court on Monday evening.

Gardaí say they are continuing their investigations.
