A MAN charged with one count of sexual assault has been sent forward for trial to the present sitting of the Letterkenny Circuit Court.
The man, who is in his seventies and cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged victim, appeared at yesterday morning’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court where a book of evidence was served on him. The charge relates to an incident in 2013.
Inspector Goretti Sheridan told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) consented to the accused being sent forward for trial to the present sitting of the circuit court.
Giving him his alibi warning, Judge Paul Kelly remanded the accused on continuing bail on the same conditions previously set out in the district court to appear before the Letterkenny Circuit Court.
