Beach Hill Manor Nursing Home at Lisfannon has offered the pensioner a week’s respite free of charge before she returns home at Aghilly.
A 48-year-old man arrested in connection with the aggravated burglary of an elderly woman’s home in Donegal has been released without charge.
Mrs Margaret ‘Greta’ Lilly (96) was threatened and assaulted when a man entered her home in Aghilly, Buncrana in the early hours of Saturday, January 5.
Gardai detained a man as part of the investigation on Tuesday, however, he was released on Wednesday night. A file is now be prepared by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Earlier this week Buncrana businessman offered a €5,000 reward for anyone who could provide information leading to the prosecution of those who attacked the pensioner.
George McLaughlin, of McLaughlin Motor Factors, said he was ‘disgusted’ by what had happened to Mrs Lilly last weekend.
A man broke into her home in Aghilly punched her in the ribs, gagged her and stole a substantial amount of cash which she had been saving to buy new windows for her home.
Mrs Lilly was released from Letterkenny General Hospital into the care of a nursing home on Wednesday night after being treated for her injuries.

It is understood that the pensioner was ‘over the moon’ upon hearing that company had offered to install new windows at her home.
