Man in his twenties killed in road accident

Gardaí have confirmed that a man in his late twenties died in a single vehicle collision last night just north of Barnesmore Gap. The accident happened at around 11.15pm at Cashelnavene, near Ballybofey.

The man, who was the sole occupant of a van was pronounced dead at the scene. It is understood the van collided with a vacant house. His remains have been removed to Letterkenny University Hospital.

Traffic is being diverted via the Derg Line, and HGV’s should divert through Glenties. There is traffic congestion with delays expected on the Derg Line with drivers being advised to avoid the area if possible.
