Man in court over Donegal Town drugs bust

A man appeared in court last night following a substantial seizure of drugs in Donegal Town.

Donegal Town Drugs Unit encountered a high powered motorbike travelling at speed towards Donegal Town on Saturday. Uniform Gardai were conducting a Covid-19 checkpoint at Tullyearl and assisted in stopping the vehicle. The driver was found to have €6000 cannabis and €1000 amphetamine concealed on his person. A follow up search was conducted under warrant at a property in Riverstown, Sligo where €10,000 amphetamine was recovered.

A man was brought before a court in Sligo last night in connection with the seizure.

A Garda spokesperson said, “The male was arrested and questioned at Ballyshannon Garda station. He appeared before a special sitting of Sligo district court on April 13 charged with offences relating to the sale/supply of drugs. A file is being prepared for submission to the DPP.”
