Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding a workplace accident in Newtowncunningham today in which a man in his 60s lost his life.

Gardaí and other emergency services attended the scene of the fatal workplace accident at a premises in Newtowncunningham at approximately 1pm.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí say a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. 

The Health and Safety Authority has also been notified.
