A PHOTOGRAPHER from Co.Antrim died this afternoon (Sunday) after he fell from rocks into the sea at Fanad Lighthouse.
The man was taking photographs at the time.
It is believed the man lost his footing and fell into the sea and became trapped in a gulley on the cliffs.
A spokesman for Malin Head Coastguard said two lifeboats from Lough Swilly RNLI were tasked to the scene along with Mulroy Coast and Cliff Rescue and a rescue helicopter from Sligo.
“Members of Mulroy Coastguard located the casualty in the water and procceded to bring him on board. He was given CPR before being transferred to the Rescue 118 helicopter and taken to Letterkenny General Hospital.
Two other local fishing boats, the Mary Ellen and the Annie, who were also in the area, also rushed to the scene. The rescue boats cold not get to the casualty because of a Force 7-8 gale blowing north-westerly towards the shore. However the man was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.
