A MAN is to stand trial in the Central Criminal Court in Dublin charged with a series of sex offences.
The man was served the Book of Evidence at Monday’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court. The case was an in camera matter, meaning that the accused cannot be named.
The accused is charged with rape, sexual assault and attempt to rape contrary to common law. The alleged offences occurred on August 15, 2021.
Garda Pauline Doherty gave evidence at Monday’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court of serving the book of evidence on the accused in the presence of his solicitor, Kieran O’Gorman.
Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented to the accused being sent forward for trial to the present sitting of the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.
Judge Emile Daly administered the alibi warning.
The accused was remanded on bail on the same terms and conditions as previously set down by the court.
Solicitor for the accused, Mr Kieran O’Gorman sought a senior and junior counsel.
