Man arrested for intoxication 40 yards from his house

A MAN has been fined for being intoxicated in a public place, 40 yards from his home.

Letterkenny District Court heard how gardaí received a report of an intoxicated man on February 14 of this year.

When they arrived at the scene, gardaí found Michael Connors (52) of 8 Canal Road, Letterkenny, in an intoxicated condition in a public place.

The offence is contrary to section 4 of the Public Order Act 1994 amended by Section 22 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act 2008.

Solicitor Patsy Gallagher said his client was 40 yards from his front door when he was arrested.

“My client has a number of previous convictions. He has an ongoing issue with alcohol,” he told the court.

Judge Emile Daly fined Connors €150, and gave him four months to pay.
