A MAN has been remanded in custody following an alleged assault in the Oldtown area of Letterkenny.
Gabor Zsebi, a Hungarian native, (41) appeared before a special sitting of Letterkenny District Court today, charged in connection with the alleged incident in the early hours of Thursday, July 2.
Detective Garda Joe Kealy told the court that Zsebi, of Riverdale Terrace, Oldtown, was arrested at 7.30pm on Thursday, July 2.
He is charged with aggravated burglary and assault in the course of a fight and producing a weapon, namely a knife, to intimidate another person.
He is also charged with assaulting a female, causing her harm and also burglary during which he had an article, namely a knife.
Defendant’s solicitor, Frank Dorrian, said his client was “homeless and friendless”, and that he would not be applying for bail. He asked that his client receive psychiatric assistance while in custody, which Judge Paul Kelly granted.
He was remanded in custody until Monday’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court, where he will appear via videolink.
