Man (70s) dies following Carrigart collision

A MAN, aged in his 70s, has died following a single vehicle road collision in Carrigart.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the incident, involving a van, at approximately 1pm today.

The male driver of the van was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 His body has since been removed to the mortuary at Letterkenny University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

No other injuries were reported.

 The road is closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions in place.

Meanwhile, Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 12.10pm and 1.10pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí,” a garda spokesperson said.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milford Garda Station on (074) 915 3060, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
