A man aged in his 70s has died following a serious assault in Derrybeg.

The assault occurred in Derrybeg on Sunday morning.

The man was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital with serious injuries. He was pronounced deceased late yesterday evening, in hospital.

A man in his 30s arrested and detained by Gardaí in connection with this incident was charged and appeared before Letterkenny District Court yesterday.

He was due to appear before Falcarragh District Court today.
