Man (33) refused to leave emergency department

A MAN was in an intoxicated state in Letterkenny University Hospital’s emergency department and refused to leave when asked to do so by staff.

Letterkenny District Court this week was told how on December 27, 2024 at 11.24pm, gardaí were on patrol when they received a call from staff about a highly intoxicated male in the accident and emergency department of LUH.

Staff at the hospital asked Dawid Beryg (33), of 18 The Hawthorns, Buncrana, to leave the building but he refused, the court was told.

Beryg was arrested by gardai and conveyed to Letterkenny Garda Station.

The defendant, who was not present at Monday’s local district court, has no previous convictions.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham directed Beryg make a contribution of €100 to Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital charity.

She remanded the case until January 28 to Buncrana District Court.
