A DUNGLOE teenager is showing his appreciation for the assistance he has received from Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin by organising a series of fund-raising events.
Malachy McLaughlin of Meenmore Road was first admitted into the care of the staff in Crumlin when he was diagnosed with transposition of the great arteries just after birth.
Now 19 years old and sitting his Leaving certificate this summer at Rosses Community School, Malachy has been organising fund-raisers for the hospital to say ‘thank you’.
“I’ve been attending Crumlin regularly since birth and this is my opportunity to say thank you to all the doctors and nurse for all their great care over the past 19 years and for keeping me alive. Their care is unforgettable,” said Malachy.
With last weekend’s 90s themed disco at the Bayview alone Malachy raised €1,200 and he still has a few events coming up.
